Welcome to the first ever
Listbuilding.com Business Marketing Online Success Report! I'll be coming at you once a week with some motivation, some updates, news from Listbuilding.com, and a dose of online success tips (and maybe even some hot wings from time to time too!).
As you may know, I am in the early stages of my run across the country and me and the team are having a blast so far. Thanks for your support and thanks to everyone who has donated or commented on RunTellmanRun.com - I appreciate your support and it means more to me than you may realize...
I wanted to kick off today's newsletter talking about BIG goals... Its been amazing how many people ask me if I really think I can run across the country barefoot....if I can REALLY raise $100,000,000 for the cause of eliminating Youth Homelessness. Some people don't get it (and never will). For those that don't get it there are thousands that do and stand behind this worthy cause. I've had people run up to me and hand me checks, cash; I've been interviewed by ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX along with a lot of local radio stations.
Just yesterday I got word that a 12 year old girl in Florida who lives on the beach wants to start a "Shelling For Shelters" fund raiser and give the money to RunTellmanRun! She is presenting the idea to her Student Counsel next week! When you set big goals people get behind you. That's how I got started with my online career - that's how List Crusade was born. It started as a Big Goal that got people excited and now it has grown and grown.
What's your big goal? What do you want to accomplish in your life? Who's lives do you want to influence and change for the better?
I WILL run across the country barefoot and I WILL raise $100,000,000 for Youth Homelessness and I WILL have the time of my life doing it too (just check out the video below of me setting a big goal of eating 6 of the hotest hot wings I've ever had!)

'BIG' Marketing Idea For The Week
Don't be boring....
There....That's it. That's your BIG lesson this week. I could stop right there but I suppose I could write more and school you on what I mean...One of the biggest mistakes I see from marketers getting started online and even established marketers is they are boring as heck!
There is no personality, nothing interesting at all, nothing different - just another "me too, me too" marketer throwing stuff at the wall hoping it sticks.
Guess what,....it won't. Listen my friend, there is a lot of marketing noise out there (some experts say that the average American is exposed to 600 marketing messages A DAY!!). That's crazy but it should "slap you upside the head" and make you realize that if you want to stand out from the crowd you absolutely can't be boring or vanilla...
I'm a straight up weirdo and I am cool with that (in fact, I purposefully share it with you all the time!) - I like comic books, hot wings, running barefoot, I have long hair and a beard, I say weird things like "Shabambo!," I live in little old Vermont, I have a bunch of cats, and I had twisted legs when I was a kid, and I have overcome challenge after challenge in my life.
I have had many "interesting" and non-boring promotions like my very successful "Source Of The Buffalo" promotion that I did to promote Mark Joyner. This was a completely interesting and non-boring promtion that also drove in some serious sales and got some amazing feedback.
Another example was my 13th Module Video which has some wackiness in it (notice the personality elements infused into it - that's not a mistake and it livens up the presentation). Even my new "Tellman On Traffic" Video is fun to watch and non-boring.
Heck, I even just did a mini-fundraising promotion where one of my buddies Ben was willing to shave his beard if we raised $2,000 for RunTellmanRun. We only ended up raising $600 last week but even with that it was not boring, was fun to watch, had people commenting, and people taking action.
What can you do to liven up your promotions?
4 Ideas To Make Your Promotions Non-Boring:
1. Infuse some personality in your marketing: Put a little of yourself in your e-mails, in your sales pages, in your videos, blog posts and articles. Open up and share parts of your personality and your life with your subscribers. People buy from people they know like and trust so share bits of yourself.
2. Be Somebody: Your subscribers want someone to follow that embodies thier hopes, dreams, and desires. Somebody that lives the lifestyle that they want to live, takes the actions they want to take.
3. Tell them what you stand for and what you don't stand for. Sharing your beliefs and your views helps the right people to relate to you. It helps attract the people you want around you and replel the people that aren't your ideal customers.
4. Use current events in your promotions: Many a smart marketer has said "try and enter the conversation going on in your customers mind." I saw some smart marketers recently do "Cash For Clunkers" promotions that went well. The media was talking all about it and these marketers took action and capitilized on the 'conversation' in the media and cashed in. What current events or holidays can you set up a promotion about?

Closing Thoughts
Hopefully you liked this first issue of this weekly newsletter. I'd love to hear your thoughts and feedback. Drop me a line by shooting me an e-mail at feedback@listbuilding.com and let me know if you liked the newsletter and what you liked about it.
I want to finish this week's newsletter talking about "Taking Action." I have come a long way taking action every day. I started my online business in a spare bedroom of my apartment, massively in debt, with a computer that barely worked because of the cat hairballs stuck in the fan.
I took action every day to fill my brain with the information I needed to have and then took action every day to make the vision in my mind a reality.
It was not easy, I did not always have the answers, I failed over and over and over again. I started with a free hour every day. I worked my full time job so I could pay the bills and put food on the table but every day I took action to fill my brain with more information and then spend time every day taking action.
There was not a day that went by that I did not take action to drive traffic, to set up new joint ventures, to interview people, and make things happen. Did all of these efforts pay off? Not always, in fact, most of them didn't. BUT the ones that actually hit made all the difference in the world.
Taking action every day is the key my friend. Direct Marketing expert Dan Kennedy says "Be somebody, be somewhere, do something." Taking action every day, putting pokers in the fire, and making things happen will make all the difference for you in the world.
So, what actions will you take this week? What Listbuilding Club trainings will you pour into your brain, what actions will you take to put those trainings in place? I challenge you to not let a day go by without taking action.
Do this for the next 21 days and see what happens to your business.
